Trial Pitting

Trial pitting can be undertaken in a variety of ways from simple shallow hand excavations to deep mechanically excavated trenches dependent on the constraints and the requirements of the site. Typically trial pitting is undertaken using a wheeled or tracked excavator to depths in the region of 4m to allow a visual inspection of the underlying strata and to recover disturbed samples for testing. However we have extensive experience in the excavation and logging of utility trenches, by hand or machine, and deep excavations up to 10m for abandoned underground structures using excavators up to 54T with a 21m reach. All excavations are logged, photographed and sketched by our fully trained and qualified staff.
